Jeff Best is the founder of Best Build and brings a unique engineering-driven approach to residential homebuilding. With a background in mechanical engineering, Jeff designs homes as complete, integrated systems — where layout, structure, mechanical performance, and building envelope are planned to work together from the start.
His path into homebuilding was hands-on. Jeff has personally designed and built multiple homes from the ground up, managing everything from early planning and energy modeling through to construction execution. This direct experience shapes Best Build’s philosophy: thoughtful planning, system integration, and construction accountability lead to better-performing homes.
Jeff remains closely involved throughout every stage of the homebuilding process — from pre-construction planning to on-site construction. By staying engaged from design through execution, he ensures the original vision, performance goals, and construction details are carried through without compromise.
Jeff founded Best Build to offer homeowners a smarter, more transparent path to building — one grounded in engineering rigor, cost clarity, and long-term performance. His goal is simple: to deliver homes that are healthier, more efficient, and built to stand the test of time — fulfilling each client’s unique vision.
Cory Hartlen – Builder & Head of Client Experience
Cory Hartlen brings nearly 20 years of experience in technology sales and product marketing, where he specialized in helping clients navigate complex decisions with clarity and confidence. Known for his ability to listen closely, anticipate needs, and simplify complicated processes, Cory built a reputation for making high-stakes projects feel approachable and well-supported.
After seeing Jeff Best apply that same level of care and systems thinking to homebuilding, Cory joined Best Build to lead client experience. Today, he works closely with homeowners to guide ideas, budgets, and priorities into a structured, enjoyable building journey — from the first conversation through move-in day.
In addition to guiding the client experience, Cory is actively involved on-site throughout construction. Working alongside the build team, he supports day-to-day progress and remains closely connected to how each home comes together — ensuring client priorities and design decisions stay aligned in the field.
Together, Jeff and Cory balance both sides of the building experience: Jeff ensures every home performs as an integrated system, while Cory ensures the process feels clear, collaborative, and client-focused throughout.
When he’s not on-site or walking clients through plans, Cory is usually cheering on his kids at the rink or field, bringing humor to the job site, or (occasionally) making the case for adding one more window.
